  9. For the computer with Windows 95/98:
  10. PC 486, 16 MB RAM, 50 MB of free hard disk space

  13. PC 486, 24 MB RAM, 50 MB of free hard disk space, Service
  14. Pack 3 and higher installed
  15.  
  16. For the computer wit Windows 2000:
  17. PC Pentium, 64 MB RAM, 50 MB of free hard disk space,

  19. For the computer wit Windows XP:
  20. PC Pentium, 64 MB RAM, 50 MB of free hard disk space,

  22. (The program itself requires 25 MB, the rest is reserved for
  23. the integrity database file and its index.)

  25. The network edition of Avast32 3.0 program enables the remote
  26. control of AVAST32 program on the other workstation over the
  27. network. It allows you to create, edit and start tasks for
  28. virus scanning on remote computers, see the results and take
  29. the appropriate measures directly from your computer.
  30.  
  31. To ensure the communication among computers it necessary that
  32. on computers must be AVAST32 program running or at least its
  33. engine. It is assured by an automatic starting of the engine
  34. on operating system start. So you just need to install the
  35. AVAST32 program and restart Windows. A user has to be logged
  36. into the Windows to ensure the program engine is active.

  39. For support of network functions it is necessary to install
  40. TCP/IP protocol. If you use Internet or Intranet on your
  41. computer, the protocol is already installed, if not, you will
  42. probably have to install the TCP/IP protocol.
  43.  
  44. If you don't need to use network functions of Avast32
  45. program, you don't have to install the protocol.
  46.  
  47. For Scheduler support in Windows 95 and NT it is essential to
  48. install MS Task Scheduler. This program can be installed via
  49. MS IE 4.0 installation.

  52. Installation:
  53. - Make sure that your computer meets the minimal system
  54. requirements for the program installation.
  55. - Run the installation file SETUP.EXE from \AVAST32\ folder
  56. from our CD.
  57. - Then follow the on-screen instructions.
  58.  
  59. Serial number of Network edition:
  60. With your Network edition of the program you have obtained
  61. two serial numbers, which differs in the first letter. The
  62. number with "W" should be used for an installation on the
  63. workstations. The number with "S" should be used for an
  64. installation on computers, from which you would like to
  65. remotely administrate the other computers.
  66. Do not provide the number beginning with "S" to "regular"
  67. user of the network!

  69. Deinstallation:
  70. - exit all running parts of AVAST2 program
  71. - Via "Add/Remove programs" in Control panels perform the
  72. deinstallation

  78. - Program doesn't work well under Windows NT with SP6
  79. installed. SP6a (or previous versions SP3-SP5) are required.

  81. - Problem in data integrity results: files, which haven't
  82. been found because of different task setting, are reported as
  83. deleted. E.g.: the first task finds and accepts the files
  84. contained in ZIP file, the second task, which isn't set for
  85. testing of files in ZIP file, will report the files as
  86. deleted.

  88. - During the installation it is not possible to choose target
  89. directory under Windows 98 with client for Novell installed.

  94. - It is not possible to rename the files included in
  95. compressed files, it is only possible to take them out.

  97. - The "Folder to move files to" item is set to "C:\TEMP" by
  98. default on the "Virus alert" task setting page. Ensure that
  99. this folder exists, if not create it. You can also change the
  100. folder, but folder presence is necessary for the correct
  101. moving operation!

  108. I am unable to install the program, because there is a
  109. previous version installed, but this version can't be
  110. uninstalled, what do I do?

  112. Run the AVCLEAR.EXE program from AVAST32 directory on the CD
  113. and follow the on-screen instruction.

  116. What should I answer to question "Use Network?" during the
  117. AVAST32 3.0 installation?

  119. I you are installing the program onto the standalone
  120. computer, or computer, on which you don't want to use network
  121. version of AVAST32 program, answer "NO". If you are connected
  122. to the local network, or using TCP/IP protocol and want to
  123. use network version of AVAST32 program, select "Yes".

  125. I am unable to install the program from a shared drive, which
  126. name contains "space", what to do?

  131. How to install AVAST32 3.0 Network Edition in the network
  132. -----------------------------------------------------------
  133. With your Network edition of the program you have obtained

  142. What's the system of users┤ rights in AVAST32 3.0 program? Is
  143. it the same as Novell or Windows NT?

  145. As AVAST32 is expected to be used in network, it is likely
  146. that an activity of some users will have to be restricted.
  147. This is supported by the system of users┤ rights. The rights
  148. are of two kinds - personal rights and task rights.
  149. This system is not the same as Novell or Windows NT, i.e. if
  150. the user is logged to the Windows NT as an administrator it
  151. doesn't mean that the user is logged to the AVAST32 program
  152. as administrator, too (see chapter 15 in manual).

  154. How do I login as an administrator?

  156. Use "administrator" as a name and the group name leave empty.
  157. The login dialog can be displayed in the following way:
  158. In the simple user interface: click the ball in the upper
  159. left corner and choose "Login" from the shown menu.
  160. In the enhanced user interface: click with the right mouse
  161. button on the local computer icon on the "Task" tab and
  162. choose "Logout" from the shown menu, then click on the icon
  163. again and choose "Login".
